A little about me...your Island Agent

Home has always meant more to me than an address.

Home can be temporary or forever. It can be a place to begin, a place to return to, a place that holds a family together, or simply the right place for one particular season of life. It can be deeply rooted or surprisingly fluid. What matters is not how long we stay, but whether a place supports the life we are living and leaves room for the life still ahead.

Perhaps I think about home this way because I have experienced it in so many forms.

I’m a born-and-raised West Coast girl, but much of my life and work has unfolded far beyond it. I have lived and worked in enough countries that I have honestly lost count, spending real time within cultures and communities very different from my own.

Living and working across cultures continues to shape the way I see the world. It teaches you to pay attention, to listen before assuming, to become comfortable with difference, and to understand that the things one person takes for granted may look entirely different through someone else’s eyes.

The places have been extraordinary. The people have been the best part.

For many years before real estate, my professional life was centred on people, often during times that were stressful, uncertain or simply difficult to untangle. I learned to listen carefully, to notice what was being said and what was not, and to help people sort through competing priorities when there was no obvious right answer. I also learned that people rarely need someone else to make their decisions for them. More often, they need good information, perspective, a steady presence and enough room to work out what is right for them.

Real estate turned out to be a surprisingly natural place for all of that experience to come together.

A move can be wonderfully exciting. It can also carry family history, financial decisions, changing relationships, new ambitions, a need for more space or less of it, or simply the quiet realization that life has changed and home should change with it.

Today I work with buyers and sellers across Vancouver Island at many different points in their lives. Downsizing and later-life moves have become an especially meaningful part of my practice, alongside first purchases, relocations, family moves, rural and acreage properties, and the many ordinary and extraordinary reasons people decide it is time for something different.

I’m a designated Seniors Real Estate Specialist® and an Accredited Buyer’s Representative®, designations that support work I already care deeply about. But credentials are only one small part of the story.

What matters most to me is the person sitting across from me, and understanding enough about their life to recognize what a good outcome actually looks like for them.

Outside real estate, my life is wonderfully full. I’m the very proud mama of a daughter I adore, and I share my home with a lively collection of animals who make sure things are never too orderly. I’m an artist at heart, even if there is rarely as much time for making as I would like. I’m drawn to watercolours, alcohol inks, resin, precious metals and just about anything that lets me work with my hands. There is almost always something I’m longing to get back to, learn, or try next.

People, animals, creativity and curiosity have always made for a full life. I’m drawn to beauty, humour, good stories, interesting people and the pleasure of learning something I don’t yet know how to do. I like a little texture, a lot of character, and a life that still has room to surprise me.

For all the places I have lived and worked, the West Coast is part of who I am. I know Vancouver Island not simply as a market, but as home in all the complicated, personal meanings that word can carry.
